Ecology & Natural History

Habitat: Species is distributed on natural seepage slopes; tanks; sometimes somewhat sandy soil; sometimes grows on steep, north-facing banks of road cuts where seepage is present.

ILPIN Notes: Moran, R. C. 1981. X Asplenosorus shawneensis, a new natural fern hybrid between Asplenium trichomanes and Camptosorus rhizophyllus. American Fern Journal 71: 85-89. Ballard, H. E., Jr. 1983. A new combination for an Asplenosorus hybrid. American Fern Journal 73: 31. Plant is a wiry evergreen; leaves are dimorphic. Evergreen; leaves pinnatifid-crenate at the middle. Hybrid between Camptosorus rhizophyllus and Asplenium trichomanes.
