Ecology & Natural History
Habitat: Species is distributed in chert, granite, sandy open alluvial soils along streams, rocky exposed ledges, upland open wooded areas, upland or river bottom prairies. ILPIN Notes: Pammel reports that species is poisonous. Species is rather common in southern 1/2 of Illinois; apparently absent elsewhere.
