General: Monocot, perennial

Shoots: alternate leaf arrangment; simple leaf type; entire leaf margin; Parallel leaf venation; awl-shaped leaf shape

Flowers: perfect; 3 merous; complete; hypogynous ovary position

Habitat: Species is distributed along highways in ditches.

ILPIN Notes: Sheaths and blades may be hirsute; in spikelets, second glume sterile, and fertile lemmas with long, tawny hairs. Plant has swollen culm bases. Species was introduced form southeast USA.: found only in Williamson co. Some authors combine this genus with Digitaria. No "Triachne" in SCS, Vol. 1 or 2.
