Ecology & Natural History

Habitat: Species is distributed on river banks and swampy areas; It is fairly common along the Illinois River, rare or absent elsewhere. In northern Illinois, it is locally frequent on calcareous marsh borders and riverbanks; muddy ground; is occasional in shallow water.

ILPIN Notes: Immatures of E. intermedia may be confused with immatures of E. acicularis. Tubercle of E. intermedia achene is subulate. Species is fairly common along the Illinois River; otherwise rare or absent.
