Ecology & Natural History

Habitat: Species is distributed along railroads and wastes.

ILPIN Notes: This is one of our most abundant weeds, turning many roadsides yellow with its blossoms on June mornings... apparently a correlation between its abundance and the practice of mowing our roadsides. Young stems (several inches) may be cooked and eaten as a vegetable. Roots may be cooked and eaten before top flowers.
