Ecology & Natural History

Habitat: Species is distributed in northern Illinois in shade with Celtis occidentalis and Fraxinus americana. It is distributed in low open or rich woods, low meadows, usually in valleys, sloughs, ditches, and cut-over slopes. See also SAF forest cover type.
