Comments & Questions
IL Plant Response: Its not clear if this if S. pinnatifudum is actually its own species or a variety Silphium terebinthinaceum. The Flora of North America and ITIS list it as as a variety.
We decided to be conservative and include this as a variety under S. terebinthinaceum until further information is available. For further reading, there is a report that discusses S. pinnatifudum's ecology and status, which can be downloaded here: (https://www.ideals.illinois.edu/bitstream/handle/2142/9906/inhscwpev02005i00003_opt.pdf?sequence=2&isAllowed=y)
