Ecology & Natural History
Habitat: Species is distributed in low rich slopes; wooded hillsides. ILPIN Notes: Species maybe causes hayfever; fruit is edible. Pistillate flowers are a few in a group, with red stigmas; acorn cap covering about one-half of the ovoid nut. Wood is heavy, hard, strong, close-grained, and durable, but checks badly in drying.
