Ecology & Natural History

Habitat: Sloughs, roots in muddy gravel or sand beds near shallower margins and banks; deep, swift and still waters; local on mudflats along streams and ponds, often as a "stranded" aquatic.

ILPIN Notes: Eaten by wildlife. Leaves olive or dull green, distinguished from Potamogeton by complete absence of leaf midribs.
