Ecology & Natural History

Habitat: Species is distributed in standing water.

ILPIN Notes: Reproduction usually is vegetative. It is regularly seen in tangled colonies. Species is found throughout Illinois. Thallus is thin and flat, linear, no veins, no roots, has one reproductive pouch. Flowers and fruits are unknown. Plant is up to 6-8 mm long. Plants occur singly or in star-shaped pale-green bodies, often in tangled masses, usually just the plant base is above the water.
