Ecology & Natural History
Habitat: Species is distributed in open or rocky, often dry woods along bluffs, and in moist open ground; frequents limestone areas but also other types of soils; beside buildings, under hedges, on bare spots near tree bases; walls of shaded rock canyons in Kankakee co.; a weed under conifer plantings; in shade beneath cliffs and along buildings. ILPIN Notes: Other species are allergenic (Wodehouse). Species may be polygamous also. It thrives in shade with relative freedom from low-growing competitions. Functional Relationships:
