Habitat: Species is distributed in rich or rocky wooded slopes and waste ground. It is associated with Amphicarpa bracteata, Carya cordiformis, and chickory. See also SAF Forest Cover TYpes.

ILPIN Notes: Species is distributed throughout the state, possibly every county. Acute lemma tops distinguish this species from F. paradoxa; has dark brown culm nodes; plants are delicate.
