Ecology & Natural History
Habitat: Species is distributed in sloughs, bluff bases, and wet depressions. It can be very abundant along river and stream bottoms, in alluvial soil subject to periodic flooding. ILPIN Notes: Species can hybridize with several other asters. Disk florets are perfect; ray florets are pistillate; both are fertile. Species has a branching caudex or short, stout rhizome.
