Ecology & Natural History

Habitat: Sandy blufftops; gravelly banks and fields.

ILPIN Notes: Wunderlin, R. P. 1971. Contributions to an Illinois Flora no. 4. Compositae II. (Tribe Heliantheae, part I - Dyssodia, Helenium, Gaillardia, Hymenoxys, Hymenopappus, and Polymnia). Illinois State Academy of Science Transactions 64:317-327. Rays pistillate and fertile, disk flowers perfect and fertile. The reports of this species from Mason County are in error and are based on the Tazewell County site. Heads mostly radiate; caudex branching.
